Final Tips from 2070
Not financial advice. I want you to win with this bot, but I take zero responsibility for your decisions when using our algorithms.
Like I said, I have been using this algorithm for quite a while.
I think there are certain ways you can approach its signals to truly maximize the +EV of the pure TA upon which it acts.
Subscribe to all strategies (ALERTS ONLY)
This is my #1 tip for people using our algorithm.
If you subscribe to all strategies via Alerts Only, you have far more context for how the bot feels, overall, about the market.
This will help you assess how to treat the current trade you are in. Is it aligned with the bot's general market sentiment? How do conservative algorithms look at the moment?
In this formulation of binary long/short, additional context will help you more than you currently realize.
If conservative is short, and degen goes long, take a look at the 2H/4H chart, and ask yourself: is it time for a bounce?
I only trade degen manually.
It is enticing to allow the bot to blindly trade for you. There is no feeling like waking up to a winning trade that you literally slept through. But for my risk profile, the degen settings are simply not consistent enough for me to trust on an automated basis.
There are so many variables impacting this market. It is literally impossible for an AI to react timely enough to those variables consistently on a 5m chart. It can tell you what the market is saying, but not what it will say, on that timeframe.
I think degen offers extremely nice upside for intraday moves, but I think it is equally important to avoid losses. The fact is that a 55-60% hit rate on a ton of trades will give you too many losses, even if the backtesting is unquestionably positive (which it is).
The play on degen, in my eyes, is to see the signal, look at the chart on the 5m and higher timeframes, and then make your own decision.
This is not to say that you cannot win trading degen on autotrading. But, from my experience, since short term trading is such a crazy volatile place, this has been the way.
Try to get a better entry than the bot on Alerts Only signals.
Our agent will tell you the signal's entry price.
Historically, I have maximized performance on this algorithm by seeing a signal, and trying to wait for a marginally better entry point than the bot received.
It may not seem like much, but even a few hundred dollars difference in BTC price, over a number of trades, will add up to your overall PNL.
Because the bot trades not only on indicators but also momentum and volume, it often will not strike the pico top or bottom of a trade. You, as a person, can wait for inevitable short term pullbacks or pumps before entering based on the signal.
Give this a try once, and see how it works for you. It won't work for everyone.
But it can help you massively in gaining better wins, and especially with minimizing losses.
Turn the bot off when things get choppy
While we have algorithms that can trade choppy ranges better, the version we are currently offering is simply not very good at handling consistent fakeouts in both directions.
When the market is uncertain, the bot won't know better. It is informed by the chart — and if that could go either way, the bot can too.
At a minimum, reduce position sizing, or go alerts only and take signals that way. While we all want to catch the next big move, sometimes waiting to avoid losses will outweigh the gains you would have made.
This is especially imperative on Moderate and Degen, as Conservative is more likely to hold its HTF positions.
Things usually get choppy immediately after "the move"
When a new ATH is made, or a gigantic dump happens, that is usually when the market finds itself uncertain.
This is by no means a 100% true concept, but it is a generally useful principle for understanding why chop and ranges happen.
The market is simultaneously asking itself "Is this the top" and "Can we defend this appreciation"
No one will know the answer to that until the next thing happens, whatever that may be. So perhaps after catching a big dub, consider turning the bot off and simply watching the chart.
I will say it directly: it is probably best if you do not use automated trading on Degen immediately after a huge pump or huge dump.
As soon as you are in a trade, look at the chart, find local resistance and support, and set SL/TP.
This documentation mentions this elsewhere, but for real:
USE STOP LOSSES AND TAKE PROFITS.
The best way to know where to add these exits is by figuring out how to identify basic support and resistance. If you don't know how to do so, talk to AI, or watch some Youtube videos.
Remember, our goal is for this to be an educational tool. We want it to improve your trading. This may be a logical place for you to start doing so.
Attempt this a few times. If it works, great. If it doesn't, figure out why, and try again.
Unless you are a better trader than most people you know, you should probably use Conservative signals.
I know this is a bit repetitive. I've said it several times. But conservative settings, over a long enough time frame, almost always outperform others.
It isn't as fun. It isn't as sexy. But it is reality.
Less trades, unless you are a great trader, will typically beat out more trades.
It is just how it is.
Final Word
This algorithm is great. I've loved using it over the years, and I hope you will too.
But it is not perfect. It requires your tender loving care to maximize its contributions to your trading experience.
I'm always available in Telegram if you have additional questions, or if you just want to talk through things.
